The Kwale County Government has handed over 24 new motorbikes to Ward Administrators and Sub-County Enforcement Officers in a move aimed at improving service delivery, strengthening enforcement and enhancing access to remote areas.

The motorbikes were issued to 20 Ward Administrators and four Sub-County Enforcement Officers during a ceremony held at the County Headquarters on Wednesday.

The handover was presided over by the County Executive Committee Member for Public Service and Administration, Karua Tsiwezi, who represented Governor Fatuma Achani.

Tsiwezi said the new motorcycles would improve the mobility of county officers and enable them to reach residents more efficiently, particularly in areas that are difficult to access.

She said the equipment would also support monitoring of county projects, enforcement operations and the delivery of services across the county’s 20 wards.

> “These motorbikes will strengthen our officers’ ability to reach the people they serve. They will improve mobility, enhance enforcement and ensure that county services are delivered closer to residents across all the 20 wards,” said Tsiwezi.

Puma Ward Administrator Rocha Mriphe welcomed the initiative, saying the lack of reliable transport had previously made it difficult for officers to access some remote areas.

Mriphe said the motorbikes would make it easier for administrators to reach residents, monitor development projects and respond to issues affecting communities in a timely manner.

“We used to face many challenges accessing remote areas of the county because we lacked reliable means of transport. We are happy and confident that these motorbikes will help us reach residents on time, monitor projects and respond more effectively to issues affecting our communities,” said Rocha.

Msambweni Sub-County Enforcement Officer Mwanajuma Rajab said the motorbikes would also improve enforcement operations by enabling officers to move quickly across their areas of responsibility.

The county government says the handover is part of its efforts to equip frontline officers with the necessary tools to improve public service and administration.
