KILIFI: SIX ARRESTED IN MTWAPA AS POLICE RECOVER GOAT, SUSPECTED STOLEN PROPERTY

Police have arrested six suspects in Mtwapa, Kilifi County, and recovered assorted property believed to have been stolen, including a black billy goat, household appliances, electronics and substances suspected to be narcotic drugs.
The arrests followed an intelligence-led operation in the Kipapuro area of Mtwapa township on Saturday, during which five suspects were apprehended, according to police reports.
The five were identified as Abdi Huyo, 31, John Chege, 40, Alex Tsivo, 29, Geoffrey Digolo, 40, and Samuel Karani, 25.
A sixth suspect, identified as Said Abdi Rashid, was subsequently traced to a house where officers reportedly found him in possession of various items he could not account for.
Among the items recovered during the operation were a black billy goat, gas cylinders, a bicycle, water dispensers, sound systems, microwaves, watches, a laptop and a Hotpoint fan.
Police also reportedly recovered several rolls of a substance suspected to be bhang, alongside cash believed to be proceeds of illegal activities.
Investigators suspect that some of the recovered property could be connected to other housebreaking and theft incidents reported in the area. The items are expected to assist officers in ongoing investigations as they seek to establish their ownership and determine whether the suspects are linked to additional offences.
The six suspects are being held at Mtwapa Police Station as they await arraignment in court.
Meanwhile, residents who have lost property through housebreaking or theft have been urged to visit the station to identify and claim any belongings they recognise among the recovered items.
The recovery could help investigators establish links between the suspects and reported theft cases in Mtwapa and its surrounding areas.
