LIKONI SECURITY GUARD HOSPITALISED AFTER BRUTAL ATTACK BY MACHETE-WIELDING GANG

A private security company employee was severely injured after being attacked by a group of youths armed with knives in the Likoni area, Mombasa County.

Kelvin Mwangi Mbuthia, 30 years old, who is an employee of Sarman Security, is reported to have been attacked early this morning while heading to work via the Likoni ferry.

According to Mwangi, the incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. in the Patana area, near Likoni District Hospital, when he encountered a group of about ten youths armed with knives.

He says the youths assaulted him and beat him before fleeing with his Tecno Spark 50 phone.

Mwangi sustained serious head injuries and was assisted by good‑hearted bystanders who rushed him to Likoni District Hospital for treatment. After receiving initial medical care, he was allowed to return home.

The incident was reported at the Likoni Police Station under case number OB 02/02/11/2026.

The attack occurred a few weeks after other violent incidents reported in the Shikaadabu area and Dongo Kundu Road, where two people were reported killed and another two injured.

These events raise concerns about the safety of Likoni residents, especially those traveling at dawn and night.
