Nyamira High Court has sentenced Lawrence Gesore Sagero to a 15-year prison term for killing his wife, Nancy Mongina, in the village of Borioba, Nyamira County, April 18, 2024.

Judge T. Cherere found Sagero guilty after the prosecution presented six witnesses along with medical evidence relating to Mongina's death and severe head injuries caused by a blunt instrument.

That medical evidence supported the prosecution's case regarding the circumstances of Mongina's death.

In delivering the verdict, the court considered the gravity of the offense along with the presented circumstances as mitigating factors for reducing the severity of the sentence.

Sagero has 14 days to appeal the sentence.
