The results of the United States midterm election are expected to determine whether Congresswoman Ilhan Omar will continue to represent Minnesota's Fifth District in the House of Representatives.

MINNESOTA, USA — Democratic Party congresswoman Ilhan Omar is among the politicians seeking to continue her representation in the United States House of Representatives following the general election held on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

Omar, who represents Minnesota's Fifth Congressional District, faces competition from Republican candidate John Nagel and independent candidate DeVelle L. Jackson.

If she wins that election, Omar will continue her service in the United States Congress for a fifth term since she was first elected in 2018.

Minnesota's Fifth District includes Minneapolis and surrounding areas, and has long been a stronghold for the Democratic Party.

Omar has faced frequent criticism from President Donald Trump due to her positions on political issues and U.S. government policies.

The congresswoman, of Somali origin, made history in 2018 when she was elected as one of the first Muslim women to serve in the United States Congress.

The November 3 election is part of the midterm elections, held every two years to elect members of the House of Representatives, along with senators and other state-level officials.

The official results of the Minnesota Fifth District election must be certified by the appropriate authority before the final winner is announced.
