The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has announced an increase in fuel prices, raising the cost of petrol by KSh 12.93 per litre, diesel by KSh 9.90 and kerosene by KSh 28.49.

The new prices take effect from October 15 to November 14, 2026, and are expected to increase pressure on motorists, households and businesses already grappling with the high cost of living.

In Nairobi, Super Petrol will retail at a maximum of KSh 226.96 per litre, while diesel will cost KSh 227.76 per litre. Kerosene prices will rise to KSh 219.85 per litre.

The latest review marks a significant increase from the previous pricing cycle, during which EPRA maintained fuel prices for the period between September 15 and October 14, 2026.

According to EPRA Director-General Edward Mwirigi Kinyua, the price increases have been attributed to the escalating conflict in the Middle East, which has disrupted petroleum supply chains and increased the cost of importing fuel.

The increase in diesel prices could have wider economic implications, given the fuel's importance in transporting goods and operating public service vehicles. Higher transport and distribution costs could eventually translate into increased prices for essential commodities.

Meanwhile, the sharp rise in kerosene prices is likely to affect households that depend on the fuel for cooking and lighting, particularly low-income families.

The latest adjustments come amid continued concerns over the cost of living, with fuel prices remaining a major factor influencing transport fares, food distribution and the overall cost of doing business in Kenya.

The new rates will remain in force until November 14, 2026, when the regulator is expected to announce the next monthly fuel price review.
