Engineer and MP for Kwale County, Lunganzi Chai Mangale, urges citizens to reject leaders who use public authority for personal gain, emphasizing that good leadership must prioritize integrity, accountability and service to the people.

Mangale made the statement while addressing citizens in the Mpirani area, Kasemeni Valley, Kinango Parliamentary constituency, during Heroes' Day celebrations.

He said leaders who misuse the authority given by the people for their own benefit should not be allowed to continue overseeing public affairs.

According to Mangale, leadership should not be measured by the position a person holds, their fame, or promises they make, but by their actions, accountability, and contribution to improving citizens' lives.

Mangale Explains the Qualities of True Heroes

Discussing the meaning of bravery, Mangale said not everyone who holds a position of authority deserves to be called a hero, explaining that true heroes are those who place public interest above personal gain.

He emphasized the importance of leaders dedicating themselves to community development and ensuring that public resources are used for their intended purposes.

His remarks highlighted the importance of integrity in leadership and the duty of leaders to protect the interests of the citizens they represent.

He Mentions President Ruto in His Message

In that speech, Mangale referred to President William Ruto as a hero, emphasizing the need to evaluate leaders based on their actions and contributions to the nation.

He said citizens should look at the visible efforts in tackling community challenges rather than relying solely on sweet words and political promises.

However, the statement was presented as Mangale's opinion on leadership and bravery.

He Warns About the Impact of Corruption on Development

Mangale also highlighted corruption and the misappropriation of public funds as among the challenges that can undermine development and affect the delivery of essential services to citizens.

He said the misuse of public resources can erode citizens' trust in government institutions and hinder efforts to improve community livelihoods.

The MP issued a call for leaders who uphold ethics, respect the mandate given to them, and are ready to be accountable for their decisions and the use of public funds.

His message emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in managing public resources, especially at leadership levels directly involved in serving citizens.

Heroes' Day celebrations remind Kenyans of the contributions of those who have devoted themselves in the nation's history and the importance of recognizing citizens' contributions to national development.
