Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has reportedly dismissed Geoffrey Mosiria as Chief Officer in charge of Citizen Engagement and Customer Service, with Ziporah Njeri Maina named as his replacement.

The reported changes, emerging on October 21, 2026, come amid tensions between Mosiria and the Nairobi County leadership, following his public criticism of the county administration and his working relationship with the governor.

In a Facebook post titled “Thanks My Boss Governor Sakaja!”, Mosiria expressed disappointment over the reported dismissal, alleging that his relationship with the governor had deteriorated significantly since December 28, 2023.

Mosiria claimed that on that date, his responsibilities as an Accounting Officer were withdrawn and reassigned to junior officers through what he described as an irregular process.

He further alleged that the health budget under his docket was reduced from KSh1.2 billion to KSh100 million, limiting his ability to discharge his responsibilities effectively.

According to Mosiria, the changes followed his alleged refusal to participate in direct procurement processes that he claimed would have benefited individuals close to the governor and certain contractors. These allegations have not been independently verified.

Mosiria also claimed that he was subsequently transferred to the Environment department, where he felt sidelined, alleging that his director reported directly to the governor rather than through him.

He said he continued serving Nairobi residents through field operations despite what he described as efforts to frustrate his work.

The former chief officer also recounted disagreements within official WhatsApp groups, public criticism and a court case involving alleged contempt of court, which he claimed nearly resulted in a six-month jail term.

He said he was later assigned to the department responsible for public participation, citizen engagement and customer service.

Despite the alleged challenges, Mosiria maintained that his priority had remained serving Nairobi residents rather than engaging in political confrontations.

He further claimed that some residents had encouraged him to consider running for governor, raising the possibility of a future political role beyond his county government position.

In another allegation, Mosiria claimed he had received information that a court case was being prepared against him with the intention of having him jailed. However, he did not provide details to substantiate the claim in the account presented.

The reported changes mark a significant development within the Nairobi County administration. However, the circumstances surrounding Mosiria's reported dismissal and Maina's appointment, as well as the allegations raised against the county leadership, require independent confirmation.

As of publication, an official statement from Governor Sakaja addressing Mosiria's allegations had not been established from the information available.

The county government's confirmation of the reported personnel changes and its response to the allegations will be important in establishing the full circumstances surrounding the development.
